Vision Boards – Why You Should Create One
by Erin Chase on October 29, 2010

Have you ever made a Vision Board?!

I hadn’t until last week. And I must say…you might want to consider doing so!

Last week I was at the SCJohnson Headquarters for a Planning and Brainstorming Meeting with the other Family Economics Bloggers. We were asked during the brainstorming session to create a vision board. On the vision board, we were to portray what we wanted to do with each of our sections of Family Economics.

Here’s how the Vision Board helped me:

      1. Focus.  This exercise helped me better see what I was to be doing.  It clarified my vision and made me see my work for what it is, and what I want it to be.

      2. Ideas. Creating the vision board gave me all sorts of ideas and really got my creative juices flowing.  The daily grind of blogging can often stifle out your creative juices.  A flooded inbox, too many products to review or giveaways to manage, a series that you’ve left half written…so easy to get lost in the “to-dos.”

      3. Goals. The vision board will help you set and/or refine your blogging goals. It will help you define/redefine your blogging purpose.

      4. Vision. Right, of course…it’s called a Vision Board.  It should give me a better vision, right?!  And that it did!

Stop and take a minute to create for yourself a Vision Board for your blog, your brand and  your business.  Do it with a Sharpie on a piece of poster board. Or beautify it with some stickers and magazine cut-outs.  Then put it up on the wall in your office or by your desk.  Let it stand as a constant reminder to why you are doing what you are doing…and how you are going to accomplish.

Have you ever made a Vision Board?!

Disclosure: My trip to WI was provided. I was not asked to blog about any of it. I just loved this idea and found it helpful and wanted to share it with the Savvy Blogging Community.

I like the idea of doing one just for my blog though. Or for my business. I might make a whole series of vision boards. LOL

Yours is lovely, by the way. :)

I love vision boards! They are an excellent way to keep you focused and inspired.

I made a “life” one awhile back and have it in a large frame I picked up inexpensively at Michael’s with a coupon. Doing that extra little step really turned it into a nice inspiring piece of art since I am OCD about paper clutter :) Right now it’s hung above my computer desk, but maybe it’s time to swap it out for a blogging vision board….hmmm….now you got me thinking!

WOW – what a great idea! I LOVE IT and need it. I will do that along with my Tell Your Time by Amy Lynn Andrews time management transformation. What a great way to get my life… and blog focused!

That’s a great idea — and it would have never occured to me to do that. I think I’ll try one this week and hang it in my office. I need more focus!!!

Creating a vision board for 2011 really helped set me apart and achieve some life-long goals I’ve had but never put them down on paper. The laws of attraction are powerful, and vision boards work not only for your business or blog but also for your personal life. Check out my How To Make A Vision Board series where I highlight what worked for me: http://www.lovebrownsugar.com/search/label/how%20to%20make%20a%20vision%20board
