I’ve been using the Twitter Tools plugin for the past several months on $5 Dinners. But it really irked me that it was missing a hashtag functionality. I *knew* something was out there that would enable you to assign specific hashtags to posts from the Add New Post page on the dashboard. But I hadn’t taken the time to google it or look around for the hashtag feature.
Install the Twitter Tools plugin by searching under Add New Plugins. After adding it to your plugins, look through your list of plugins for a Twitter Tools – Hashtag plugin. Activate it, then go to the Twitter Tools settings and enable the hashtags.
You can then add #giveaway, #coupon, #recipe or whatever other hashtag you wish to add to that particular post. And when it gets blasted out to the Twitterverse, it will look like this!
(No more RTing your own posts so you can add hashtags! And that is a bit.ly link that will show up in my account too!)
You can also add a bit.ly feature by simply adding your bit.ly account name and API Key (found in your bit.ly account), so you can better track click through numbers from Twitter to your blog.
And if you’d like to exclude certain categories of posts from being tweeted, you can also add that feature as well.
Twitter Tools now requires authentication and verification with Twitter apps. The process is simple and straightforward. Just follow the directions after installing the plugin.
There you have it…the latest (and greatest) from Twitter Tools plugin!
