Monitor your Website Downtime

by Joy @ Five J's on February 15, 2010

If your site goes down, how soon do you know about it? Do you have to wait until a friend emails you that your site has been down for hours? Unfortunately, that’s how many bloggers find out.

But there’s now a simple way to get alerted immediately when your site goes down.

Pingdom offers a free service that monitors your site’s downtime and alerts you via email, text, Twitter, or iPhone the moment your site goes down. Sign-up is quick and simple, requiring only your name, email, and a password. Once your account is activated, you’ll be able to set up your preferences for notification as well as view graphs of your site’s uptime history.

With Pingdom monitoring your site, you’ll be able to sit back and relax, knowing that if your site goes down, you’ll be alerted immediately so you can contact your host to remedy the problem.

I’ve been using Pingdom for a couple of months and think it is a great service. I get a text message on my cell phone when the site is down and another when it’s back up (which fortunately rarely happens).

With the issues I keep having lately I can really, really use this. Thank you so much. I had not heard of it. Now it gives me peace of mind so I don’t always have to feel like I need to check the computer every five minutes. I’m a happy blogger :)
