Link Your Twitter Profile to Your About Page

by The Happy Housewife on May 10, 2010

I wish I could take credit for this tip, but I learned it at Bloggy Bootcamp this year.

When you set up your Twitter profile you can link to a web page. Instead of linking to your Home page, link to your About page. This gives potential readers an overview of your blog, instead whatever post is currently on your homepage.

You do have an About page, don’t you?

Just created mine! I’m learning to create pages, so that helps the process a little!

I go back and forth on this one. I guess it helps to have a good about page too. Some people’s about pages are great, others are so random and have so little to do with their actual blog that I’m left scratching my head. :) Maybe I should reread my “about” page and give it a try.

Even better than your blogger profile page is to create a Google profile. It gives you way more options. Here is an example of mine:

Lacie, I like the idea of the Google Profile. Yours is very informative. Have you checked to see how much traffic comes to you through it?

I want to do that….having a little trouble adding pages on Blogger though. I want to create a page tab that will link to all my recipes, for example. I can do Home, About Me, but haven’t figured out how to link to all posts with my recipe tag!! Anyone have a great tutorial for doing that?

As soon as I change up my about page I will do this. It’s a great tip! I think I might make my about page an about and welcome page. You could also link your twitter to a page specially designed for people who pop over from twitter. The page does not have to show on your main blog page at all but can be totally thanking them for popping by from twitter and asking them to follow you, telling them about your blog etc. I like this idea a lot!

This post marries well with BloggingwithAmy.com’s post recently about how to write a killer about page: http://bloggingwithamy.com/how-to-write-a-killer-about-page/

After reading her post, I decided I still wanted an “About me” page, but added an “About this blog” page from my Nav Bar. That way folks can learn BOTH about who I am and what they can find from my blog.

After reading this post, I decided to link to my new “About this blog” page. Brilliant! Thank you!
