Alexa Ranking: 30-Day Results

Alexa Ranking

Did you join in on the Alexa experiment last month? If so, now is the time to share the results in the comments!

To make it easy to compare your personal differences, please share:

  • Alexa Ranking at the start of the experiment.
  • Alexa Ranking today.

Big difference, huh? You see that you reduced your Alexa Ranking quite a bit just buy adding a Firefox Add-On. When I did this the first time many months ago, it reduced it by more than 50,000 places. It almost seemed impossible.  Which brings up some general questions about the weighting of this metric.

If you can drastically reduce your ranking by as much much as you did with one little tool, should it really hold that much weight with PR or other agencies we may work with?

On the flip, if it’s that easy to do, it doesn’t hurt to install the Firefox Add-On to try, right? It will increase your ranking that may in turn put you on the map at PR or other companies who are into that statistic.

At the end of the day, I personally think it’s just one more bullet that is good to be in your media kit (if it’s favorable for you, of course ;) . However, I’m standing firm to say that no number or list can possibly quantify the amazing blogger, and business owner, you have become! Your relationships will show you the true results. I’m proof of that.

Mine started at 1,024,471 and the last time I looked at it it was below 800,000 so I’d say it works! (My blog isn’t accessible right now bc of a blogger-wordpress move but that’s the last number I remember!)

1,115,652 as of 10/24/10

936,427 as of 11/3/10

What is that? A week and a half? This seems so odd. I have to agree with Carrie I – why would anyone look at this if it can be so easily manipulated?

Mine improved, but then it went up slightly. Guess it’s time to visit a little more often.

I don’t know how I missed this before, but I want to try it!! How can I find out what my Alexa rating is now? When I go to the Alexa site and try to search for it, I get a message saying “no information found” or “it took too long to process your request.

I know my blog is small, but surely I have an Alexa ranking somewhere!

Thanks for this tip! I tried it too and went from around 275,000 down to 213,000 in just about 4 weeks. Amazing, don’t know how it works, but glad it does! And it’s fun to see the ranking of whatever page I’m on just by glancing at the toolbar.

I started tracking on October 12th and was at 4,060,219 and jumped down to 2,471,642 on October 23rd without doing much else except for using it. Now, on November 17th I’m at 2,302,936 but I actually forgot to use it for the past week and a half so it would probably be even lower than that if I’d remembers. Firefox isn’t my default browser for a few reasons so I had to remember to use it. ;) Still, a really nice change! Considering this was a rather neglected blog beforehand and since, I’m impressed with it.

I started at 1,093,554 and am now at 440,219!!!!! I am so excited that it went down so much. but I agree with you, it is just another bullet point, but if it gives me a chance to work with PR then great!
